This CDROM introduced me to the Internet in 1994, my colleague @markchagers was technical lead! #vpro

1994, I remembered it well. There was a buzz in the media about dutch broadcaster VPRO that would bundle a special CDROM with their weekly TV magazine.
I’m talking about VPRO’s digitale gids

Everyone was talking about, the CDROM contained software that enabled you to connect you with the Internet.
Nobody really knew what the internet was, but it was clear that it was the future.
So when I got the CDROM I created my first Internet connection with the provided SLIP connection software.
Then I started the NCSA Mosaic browser and surfed to universities in America and Japan and downloaded some realtime satellite images.
I was blown away and it was clear to me that this was going to be my daily doses throughout the rest of my life.

In one of my discussions with colleagues about our first computer, first coding experiences (mine was the Sinclair ZX81), bulletin boards, hacking and stuff, I told Mark Hagers about the VPRO CDROM, and then he told me helped creating it!
Today I was sorting my CD collection and found it again and indeed Mark is mentioned in the CD inlay!
